Method & materials
Fireproofing buys time for the structure, and the thickness is set by the fire rating and the section factor of the member — a heavy column and a light brace protected to the same rating need different thicknesses.
Applied thickness is measured and recorded across the member rather than sampled at the easy points, since the thin place is what fails first.
