Construction & operation
A custom-fabricated compound strainer for removing foreign particles from the pipeline, and a low-cost answer to straining large nominal bores.
Usually supplied with graded filtration levels, fine to coarse or the reverse, so the system runs at the required cleanliness at full load.
Suited to services that need an extremely sturdy screen: high pressure and temperature duties, and high viscosity fluids.
Filtration level. When choosing a perforation or a mesh-and-perforation combination, avoid overstraining: as a rule the specified filtration should be no finer than half the size of the particle to be removed. Too fine a filtration raises the pressure drop very rapidly and can damage the basket.
