Construction & operation
A twin-basket strainer for fuel, oil or water pipework, removing large particles of dirt and debris. Two separate basket housings let one be serviced while the other stays in flow, for lines that cannot be shut down.
Changeover is by butterfly valves or a three-way ball valve, giving a bubble-tight shut-off between the chambers — essential on negative-head pump suction systems.
Suited to services that need an extremely sturdy screen: high pressure and temperature duties, and high viscosity fluids.
Filtration level. When choosing a perforation or a mesh-and-perforation combination, avoid overstraining: as a rule the specified filtration should be no finer than half the size of the particle to be removed. Too fine a filtration raises the pressure drop very rapidly and can damage the basket.
