Construction & operation
Y-strainers take their name from their shape. Made in sizes from 1" to 24", with threaded, socket weld or flanged ends, they are the most economical choice for removing large debris.
Suited to services that need an extremely sturdy screen: high pressure and temperature duties, and high viscosity fluids.
Filtration level. When choosing a perforation or a mesh-and-perforation combination, avoid overstraining: as a rule the specified filtration should be no finer than half the size of the particle to be removed. Too fine a filtration raises the pressure drop very rapidly and can damage the basket.
