Construction & operation
A grooved flange adaptor connects grooved pipe to flanged equipment — a pump, a valve or a flanged spool — with bolt holes drilled to match an ANSI Class 150 flange.
The adaptor clamps into the groove and seals on a gasket against the mating flange face, so the joint is made without welding a flange onto the pipe.
Installation
- The mating flange needs a flat, sound sealing face; check it for damage and raised serrations that could cut the gasket.
- Where the mating part is a wafer or lug valve, or a rubber-faced component, check with the valve maker whether a spacer ring is needed.
- Tighten the flange bolts evenly and alternately to the maker’s instructions.
