Construction & operation
A U-bolt outlet takes a small threaded branch off a pipe run. The outlet body sits over a hole cut in the pipe and is held by a U-bolt round the pipe, with a gasket sealing round the hole.
Used for light branch take-offs — gauges, test connections and small sprinkler branches — where a full mechanical tee is more than the duty needs.
Installation
- Cut the hole to the maker’s diameter and remove burrs and the cut coupon.
- Seat the outlet squarely over the hole, then tighten the U-bolt nuts evenly.
