Construction & operation
An inline strainer sits in the pipe run and catches debris in a screen before it reaches control valves, spray nozzles and instruments downstream. The screen is removed for cleaning through an access cover.
Choosing the screen
The screen opening should be smaller than the smallest orifice it protects, but no finer than it needs to be: an over-fine screen raises the pressure drop quickly and clogs.
Maintenance
- Watch the pressure drop across the strainer — a rising difference means the screen needs cleaning.
- Clean the screen after commissioning flushes and after every system discharge.
- Check the cover gasket each time the strainer is opened.
